20 October 2004
I'm Baaack.
So, Spain was AWESOME, and dont worry (Rhonda) there will be an update on that soon enough.
But for now, Flag Football.
So the team is 1-1 without me. Thats right, we beat The Skinny White Boys, but then lost to Sig Chi or something like that last night. Tillman at QB. Apparently hes not cool. So the game started out on a sour note when Larson's first pass was picked and returned to the 2 yard line. Bad Guys scored a few plays later. the PEN IZ mightier was with out several key players, specifically on the line, as Showtime, McRae, and Malarkey were all out for various reasons. McGuire filled in nicely at tight end, but the team gave up some long passes on defense, and the offense couldnt really get clicking, with some dropped balls, and a less than usual, intramural-heisman type, performance from larson. With that, the season is over. Up next for Showtime's intramural career, a possible soccer and/or dogdeball team. Perhaps the individual field goal kicking contest, and then DEFINATELY basketball in the winter. Expect the team to be built around Lopatka's inside/outside game and long range J, and Showtime's playmaking.
As for politics.
I know its a little late, but im starting my official, "DON'T VOTE for BURR" campaign now. In this senate race to replace John Edwards vacated seat, between Ersking Bowles, and Richard Burr, i dont really know a whole lot except that burr is a republican and bowles is a democrat, and that burr was a kappa sig at wake. The main reason that I don't want anyone to vote for him is b/c of the Kappa Sigma thing. Now, I don't really have anything against the Kappa Sigma fraternity at WFU, but I'm not really a big fan of greek life here in general. I'm sure there are SOME really cool Kappa Sig's, but they are also pretty sketchy, and none of the ones i know/ know about would i want to be my senator. But thats beside the point. The reason i don't want you to vote for him is because all the kappa sig's think that just b/c he was a kappa sig at wfu, we should all vote for him. WRONG. All the signs all over campus and the signs in the windows of poteat, and the props on the profiles just make me not want to vote for him, and to campaign against him. what frat someone was in in college (even at wfu) is not reason to vote for someone. So what if he signed the tobacco buyout, he could have gotten the farmers a lot more money, and Bowles would have. So if you're gonna vote for him, do it for some reason other than that he was a Kappa Sig at wake. Thats all. (no hard feelings Kappa Sigma brothers, it looks like hes gonna win anyway) (PS- go democrats)
Sports:
So Rashad thinks UNC is like a prison, or a job...
wow, what a smart guy. i mean i doubt he even goes to class
but seriously, i feel bad for him. he gets to go to one of the best universities in america for free, and play basketball for one of the most storied programs in the nation and one of the best coaches, in the best state. and he gets to be a local celebrity, and prob make millions in a few years. Oh yeah, and he gets to look like a raptor. what a tough life. i'm sorry rashad. oh, and he gets free grades just for being a basketball player. man rashad, life is hard.
I guess i'd feel pretty bad about myself if i played for unc instead of WFU too. can't blame him for that. But we don't want him, we dont want players w/ that kind of attitude. Ask Chris Paul or Justin Gray if playing basketball here is like prison.
I guess that's all for now...
state fair this weekend in raleigh. get at me if you want to go.
