Props Of The Day: Cory Randolph and Nate Morton. On Saturday, while leading the Deacs to a victory over the ECU Pirates, Randolph became the first Wake Forest football player (and only the 3 player in ACC history) to pass for 300 yards and rush for 100 in a single game. Randolph Threw two touchdown passes, including a 63 yarder to Morton, a redshirt sophomore converted from quarterback last season. Charlie Ward and Woody Dantzler are the only other ACC players to amass 300 yards in the air and 100 on the ground in the same game.
As a reward for his performance, Randolph was named the ACC's offensive back of the week.
The trip to ECU was a good experience, as the Deacons came away with a victory even without the services of Jason Anderson (ankle) and with only limited carries for Chris Barclay.
Aside from the game, some other things were learned Friday night in Greenville. Greenville Police were out in full force for parent's weekend. Coming not to one, but to two parties that I attended that night. They arrived at the first party chasing a suspected law-breaker into the back yard where he was apprehended and taken into custody. They then shut the party down and threatened to arrest everyone in attendance. I left. Then I went to another party, in a subdivision called "Dockside". Now, they call this area dockside because all the houses look like beach houses. What I mean by that is that all the houses are on stilts about 10 feet off the ground, like houses you see at the beach. Students park their cars under the houses. You definitely get the feeling that you are at the beach. I was tempted to walk through the back yard, expecting to see the ocean. Apparently some kids were more moved by the sight than I was, deciding to don their birthday suits and streak around the street, apparently looking to go skinny dipping in the non-existent ocean. Luckily for these chaps, the police arrived after their antics were over. The police rolled up again in an unmarked Ford Taurus wearing jeans and "POLICE" polo-shirts with their batman belts strapped on for good measure. They immediately gave two kids tickets for drinking in the street. We didn't hang around long enough to see what more fun could be had at the "Dockside".
On a local note, sleeping is not permitted in Dr. Ewing's 9am Quant class. Neither are drinks other than water, or hats. Also students are not allowed to enter class late or exit class early. Distractions are not allowed. (apparently neither is excitement or moderate speed from the lecturer). Apparently I am not mature or responsible enough to manage a drink other than water (even with a lid) in Dr. Ewing's class. Sleeping is also a distraction to the professor. That's funny because it usually looks like he is sleepwalking through the class himself. OH WELL, I now have a new goal: stay awake in quant class, or else....
Not Allowed in Dr. Ewing's Quantative Analysis Classes:
Drinks (other than water)
Hats
Sleeping
Coming in late
Leaving Early
Energy/excitement
Discussion
Fun.
Showtime.
Panther's First Game tonight!
GO CATS!
