Happy New Year
so, its been awhile since an update.
For starters, Apple blew me away today with two amazing new products. An ipod for $99, and another for 150? can it be?
yeah, it can. ipod shuffle www.apple.com/ipodshuffle and a tiny new mac for less than 500 bucks? w/ a 40 GB harddrive and a fast G4. Yes, its true. www.apple.com/macmini
Now to the Snowshoe trip.
We went for the last 2 days of "college week" and one more day, stayed in a real cool townhouse type thing.
The snow. REALLY REALLY BAD. we used the A/C in the car the whole way up the mountain, and we got there it was 50 degrees. and it was rainy, drizzle but rainy. and it stayed in the 50s and rainy until late thursday night. So there was lots of dirt, lots of grass, and not much snow. the WORST conditions i have ever ridden on. finally they made some snow thrusday night and it was cold friday, but rained and still pretty shitty.
B Walsh took a nasty fall the first night and didn't return to the slopes, Pat and Chris never made it out, and Rob came only on thursday night. These 4 became known as "Team B" and they drank pretty much the entire time. And watched Captain Ron, Big Trouble in Little China, Anchorman, and played PS2. They also ate pizza a few times. and drank a lot.
Tristan, Kevin and I became known as "Team A" and we hit the slopes everyday.
For Kevin's bday, which i think was midnight the first night we got there, we went to the bar. Rob's ID got taken, queer. TK snuk in and didnt pay the cover. And the bartenders were terribly slow and the drinks expensive. PLUS, there were lots of dudes. But we did manage to bring one lady back to TreeTop 4 to hang out for a while that night (it should be obvious who made that happen). The only female to see the inside of TreeTop4 that week. So we all got good and "liquored up" that night (as with the rest of the nights, one of which we delivered "pizza" to our neighbors). as for the bar, it sucked. The bouncers were really assholes, and took Rob's ID, and almost wouldnt let Kevin in at 11:55. the bartenders were pretty queer too. Yeah, they did look queer, but thats not the problem. The problem was that they were REaLLY slow and rude, and the drinks were expensive. But hey, we had a good time, and it was KHill's 21st. We didn't return to that bar anymore during the week.
So, we skied/snowboarded during the afternoon/evening and then partied at night, good times were had by all. Oh, and we ate a lot of food too. I learned the Captain Ron drinking game, which i guess now gives me a reason to actually watch the movie.
Pat provided lots of funny moments, like when he held up a chair with his "dunlap"... and when he made out w/ the deer. and poured beer on his pants and/or himself. Rob learned that throwing a drinking class into a moving ceiling fan causes the glass to break. And, Pepe Lopez tequila is quite possibly the worst tequila ever.
As for the snowboarding, it turns out that you can ride a snowboard on grass and mud, but it slows down a lot. They did have most of the parks open, and I got to ride about a 17 foot kinked funbox, and a 5 foot high rail, and a longer lower rail. They had a jump on the back side of the (closed) halfpipe that i saw a guy land a nasty rodeo off of. and they had a decent jump in the park on friday.
overused phrases of the week: "get back on the horse" "thats how we roll" "now this is happening"
Pictures to come soon. As soon as TK sends them to me.
