Happy Valentine's Day
The Pen Iz Mightier closes out the regular season with a tie, thats right, a TIE!
That's like kissing your sister... except I don't have a sister, so its like if i was kissing YOUR sister. Hmm, that wouldnt be so bad.
It was a career game for Showtime who had 23 points and shot the ball quite well from the field and much better from the line this week. Your Boy also had the assist on the game tying basket, a layup by Matt Lopatka. The last 30 seconds were hectic. After giving up a 7 point lead, Pen Iz had to intentionally foul. After both shots were converted, Pen Iz came down and Showtime hit a pull up 3 to make it a one point decefit with about 20 seconds left. On the ensuing inbounds pass, Ryan Myers came up with the defensive play of the year, stealing the ball and hitting a behind his head lay up, giving Pen Iz a one point lead. On the ensuing posession, the other team threw the ball out of bounds under the basket. Savic inbounded, and could not find an open man, his pass went out of bounds at the other end. The opponets got the ball back, down 1. They got the ball in and went to their big man who found himself with a mismatch against McRae. The help defense came from Lopatka, but the big guy scored, and was apparently fouled as well. He converted the 3 point play, putting his team up two points. Pen Iz took posession with 8 seconds left. Savic got the ball up court, looked for the 3 but it wasnt thare, swung it to Cline who drove from the top of the key, finding Lopatka open underneath when the defense collapsed. Bounce pass, catch, layup, GAME TIED. END OF REGULATION. or so we thought. Turns out there is no overtime in intramural bball!! What a JOKE.
Off week next monday as we prepare for the playoffs.
