OK, so CP3 MIGHT have hit Julius Hodge in the nuts... like my old soccer coach used to say, "just jump up and down a little bit"
Great shot to win the game though.
but UNC just HAD to win. it was probably b/c they knew that ATO had the stadium seeting going on...
Ok, so, I'm pretty damn pissed about the American tipping tradition right now. I mean it just doesn't work properly anymore, it fucks over the consumer. It works great for restraunt/bar owners and managers. They can get away with only paying their waitstaff and bartenders less than $3 an hour while we, the customers, have to pick up the rest. Waitresses and bartenders EXPECT to get AT LEAST 20% and they will give you shitty service if they get less. They can't get by on $3 an hour, and they think that tips are a requirement. Tips were originated to REWARD GOOD SERVICE. a gift from the customer to the server as a way of saying thanks for the good service. Now they are an expectation. What happens when you get bad service? are you still supposed toleave 20%, what if the service is only ok, not good? 20%??
Owners are making their customers pay the majority of their wait staff's wages, and people are accepting it. A good waiter/waitress/bartender can make good money if they do a decent job at a decent restraunt, more than the $10/hr i made working in a hot ass warehouse this summer. And also, bringing someone beer from the bar, when they are sitting at the bar is really, really fucking easy. Does that deserve 20%? Hell no.
But apparently, at some bars, (like stool pigeons in raleigh), not only are youe expected to tip the bartender 20%, but you are expected to do so each time she brigns you adrink, not all at the end of the night, AND, if you don't follow this 'rule' you will get bad service. Bartenders will IGNORE you, and if you move to a table, waitresses will tell you "actually, im off" and the ones who are working will ignore you also. I mean heaven forbid they should do their jobs. DaMn. Ever think might want to tip you when we leave, all at once? guess not bitch, you can take that tip and shove it.
I have absolutely no problem tipping a server/bartender when they do a nice job and are friendly. Adam will attest to that, I always tip him and he's always nice, good waiters and waitresses who are clearly working hard and being friendly get large tips from me. They have earned them. YOU HAVE TO EARN TIPS, just like respect.
Ok, thats how i feel about tips, and about the raleigh version of stool pigeons.
I mean clearly its not as cool as the West End Tap Room in W-S, but where is?
If i was a waiter/bartender, I'd be friendly, and I'd earn my tips, after all, that's what the job is.
