So, It's been awhile since my last post. Lots has happened. Let me just break it all down into one simple algebraic (in)equation for you:
COLLEGE > REAL WORLD
I think that just about sums it up.
Since graduation i spent 2 weeks touring the Great Lakes in the new TSX, went from Raleigh to B-More to Philly to Cleveland, to Toronto, to Mo-Town, to The Windy City, to the Twin Cities, to St. Louis, to Nashville and back. 2000+ miles, all but one of the great lakes, one flash flood, lots of fun.
Then I started training for Teach For America. My highschool economics students were great, amazing, they were really cool. But, I realized that TFA wasn't for me for a variety of reasons. I still think it's a great, amazing organization, but unfortunately I realized it wasnt a good fit for me at this point. So, no more TFA for me.
So, I decided to move to Birmingham, Alabama and start looking for a job. As of tonight, I am still looking, but I have made some progress. And, I should (hopefully) have an apartment secured to move into the first week of september (which I can hopefully afford). So, if you want to come down and go to Talladega in October, do it. It's going to be awesome.
Oh, and somewhere in there I turned 23, and my back hurts even more now.
So what have I learned from all of this?
Everyone says that "college is the best 4 years of your life" - they are probably right.
Friends are great.
Being unemployed sucks (unless you are "independently wealthy" whatever that means)
Employeers are not just "lining up" to hire graduates of schools like WFU no matter how badass we are or think we are. (well maybe if you're REALLY badass)
Single apartments are expensive.
College should be 5 years.
Gas prices suck.
Growing up should not (and will not) mean you can't have fun.
The Panthers are going to dominate (even if I have to find a sportsbar that will show the games)
I'm sure there's a lot more in there somewhere, but hey i gotta catch up to speed here a little bit.
Oh, and I've seen a lot of baseball games, MLB and minor leagues, go D. Bulls and B. Barons
