Warning: NASCAR post

About an hour ago I was super stoked about the Pepsi 400 qualifying at Daytona. Why you ask? Well, two drivers that I like, but more importantly that I had selected for my Yahoo! fantasy nascar team for this week had managed to put themselves in the top 5 during qualifying. There were only 14 drivers left to qualify and at that point Boris Said was on the pole and Michael Waltrip was in the 4th position. The thing is that these guys are both in "Group C" according to Yahoo! (basically meaning that they dont expect much from the group C guys, but you must select 2 group A, 4 B and 2 C and then start half your picks from each group (unimportant details.)
So, I was excited b/c this mean that of my 2 worst drivers on my team I was going to start one of them who would be near the front at the start of the race and possibly have a strong run or even a chance to win, thus meaning I had a high likelihood of earning a lot of points from one of my scrubs while still getting decent points from my other guys. (Kinda like if Darko came off the bench for the Magic and scored 50 points, including the winning shot).

But, Now I'm Pissed.

See, it started raining. But just for a little while, so NASCAR delayed qualifying. Then after the rain had stopped, the genius that is the national association of stock car auto racing decided to cancel qualifying. What does this mean you ask? It means that the guys who had already qualified (like Said and Waltrip) had wasted their time, their qualifying laps would not count. The 14 drivers who had not qualified would not qualify. The starting grid will instead be set mostly by the current points standings. The top 35 in current points will start, along with past Champions, and race winners from last season. In that order. Unfortunately, nethier Said nor Waltrip (nor several of the other Toyota drivers that had qualified in the top 10) fall into any of those groups. Even if Said or Waltrip had won a race last year they would have AT BEST started somewhere behind 35. But thanks to NASCAR's shit rules Said and Waltrip will NOT EVEN MAKE THE RACE. So, this sucks for them, and I hate it for them because they, and their teams worked really hard to put them in those positions and not it was all for naught.
Also, it SCREWS my fantasy team this week, meaning that i will earn EXACTLY ZERO points from my C group because neither of the two guys I selected will even race tomorrow night. Luckily, I can still earn points from A and B groups.

But seriously, that really sucks for Boris Said and Michael Waltrip, both really great guys and good drivers who deserved to race and have a chance to win.

I'm pissed.
