26 July 2007
Heart breaking news out of my beloved Winston-Salem, NC this afternoon: WFU head men's basketball coach Skip Prosser is dead at the age of 56 after suffering an apparent heart attack while jogging.
Coach Prosser was the only bball coach at Wake while I was a student there, and he is responsible for many of my most vivid and happy memories at Wake. The overtime (I think it was double or triple) victory in The Joel against Duke my freshman year. The triple overtime victory in the Dean Dome against UNC during their national championship season. Celebrating victories on the quad, and the school's only national No. 1 ranking as well as the ACC regular season title in 2003.
Former NCSU head coach and current Arizona State Head Coach Herb Sendek: "Skip was a gentleman and someone who represented what was good about our profession. He was the kind of person you wanted your son to play for."

A sad day in Wake Forest history.
