26 December 2003
I almost forgot to give out props today. (I know the date says it is already the 27th, and it is, but this is in regards to the 26th, so get over it!)
PROPS OF THE DAY: Today's propers go out to the band Jeremiah Freed. If you havn't heard them, check them out.
As I will be in Boonville for the next few days, there will most likely not be any new material for a couple days.

26 December 2003
It seems like just last week that I was in the mall and said to someone, "I can't believe that they already have the Christmas decorations out, its not even Halloween yet."
Another Christmas passed, another Christmas without a real tree. It has been 9 years since my family had a real Christmas tree. This year we had a fake white tree with lights on the back deck. While we didn't decorate it or put our gifts under it, it was still better than no tree at all, and it made the holiday seem more like Christmas. This Christmas was different for a lot of reasons, we stayed in Raleigh, which we also did last year, but this year was different. It almost didn't even seem like Christmas. Just me, Mom and Dad. The family is shrinking, no coconut cake and big family dinner. I guess sometimes things just change, whether we like it or not. That's life, and that's the way it is. Old traditions are good, but sometimes its also good to start new traditions. But you know what I really miss... the Christmas carols, not a single group came by the house this year to sing, and I certainly did not go out caroling. But tomorrow its off to Boonville (the town of nothing to do) to visit some family, and maybe I'll get to go snowboarding. I can't wait to shred, snowboarding class is going to be awesome. Speaking of snowboarding and Christmas, Amped 2 is pretty dang cool.
Anyway, I hope this Christmas season was Merry for all.
Any ideas for new years??????? LET ME KNOW, HIT ME UP, all ideas welcome!

Well, Christmas Eve has come and gone.
Auto response from JFreak961: everyone loves Christmas... but what happened to the excitement I always had in years past at this time of night? I mean I'm not that old... leave one or call me. Merry Christmas
Exactly. This Christmas Eve has been somewhat of a disappointment. Seems like my family keeps getting smaller, no grandparents left, just me, mom and dad, staying in Raleigh for the immediate holiday, then going to visit family. It just doesn't seem the same. Tonight we ate dinner and that's it. No excitement, no festivities, no Christmas traditions, just lame. I remember when I was a kid laying in my bed at my grandma's house on Christmas eve and not being able to sleep because I was so excited. One year in particular, there were these spy gear things (they were grey and black) there was a vest and all these cool gadgets; camera, binoculars, a thing to see over fences and around walls, a microphone, and other stuff. Man, I wanted the vest and some gadgets sooo bad, it was insane. I remember laying there in bed thinking about the spy gear and all the badass spying I would do if I got it. Crazy. I didn't even go sit on santa's lap this year, ok maybe I AM a little old for that. But it just doesn't really seem like Christmas, just the shopping part. Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but I miss it. Seems like everything changes so fast these days. Maybe that's just part of getting older. Well whatever, we gotta remember what Christmas is all about, and we should enjoy it with the people who are important to us, in whatever fashion that may be. Be generous and good-willed. Well Christmas is still a good time, and I hope that everyone gets their "spy gear" tomorrow, whatever that might be.
On a different note: Linkin Park, Hoobstank, and P.O.D. are coming to the Greensboro Coliseum on March 2nd. I'll be there for a rockin' good time, and you should be too.
Also, Jeremiah Freed has a new album out that I just found out about (it apparently came out in August) called Slow Burn, I gotta get it, you should check out their self-titled album. AND, when did amazon.com purchase cdnow.com? GEEZ, every freakin thing is a conglomerate now, Disney/abc or time-warner/aol (are they all the same company?) will prolly buy amazon and starbucks before long. I can't wait. Support your local coffee house, music store, and barber shop. (and give the local bum(s) a bonus every now and again)
Well That's all for now kids.
Merry Christmas, and to all, A GOOD NIGHT.

PROPS OF THE DAY: Today's propers go out to all the shopping mall and salvation army Santas. These guys spend their time dressed up in a fake Santa suit and a fake beard to make a lot of little kids days, and to ring a bell to help out those who don't enjoy the kind of Christmas that most of us do. How would you like to have dirty little kids sitting on your lap and pissing on you all day while they tell you all the things they want? Yet these Santas smile and tell each and every little kid "Merry Christmas". So Merry Christmas to all of you Santas out there.

Merry Christmas Eve to everyone. Stay tuned for the Christmas edition of Props Of The Day.

"You win some, you lose some." B.P. Walsh. Unfortunately, Mr. Walsh was doing most of the winning, and I most of the losing on this night. We played poker at the Hill's. Good times. Except that I lost $15. Yeah, Brian and Kevin cleaned up. OH WELL, WFU still beat UNC, and I still won $5 off Brian on that one, so its all good. The basketball game today was also somewhat of a disappointment. Only six showed up, and none of us exactly PREMIER ballers. We ended up playing outside, and losing. Don't get me wrong, it was fun and all, but it wasn't exactly up to the Reynolds Gym Pick-up game standards that I've grown accustomed to. Ah well, Reynolds will be waiting on Jan. 14. AND I'LL BE READY. Oh, more bad news, the Hills got rid of the couch... What's next no toys at wal-mart? (lets not get started on the evil empire that is wal-mart). Learned a couple new poker games tonight, as I was losing. Ah well, what can you do. Good news is, there is Alias to be watched tonight, and tomorrow is another day. And you know what that means: Christmas eve, and props of the day. Keep on truckin.

IM STILL PISSED ABOUT THIS CLASS!
how does "a head start on the final" and a "good paper" and, "you're fine, don't worry" and a final exam that i thought was rather easy lead me to a C+ in the class? POL 152 or 252, whatever number it was, Arab-Israeli conflict w/ professor blum, it sucked.
In response to my email asking when i could actually see my grades on the final and the paper (the only 2 grades in the class):
Mr. Cline:
I will leave all the papers with the office of Elide Vargas. She has
already left for abroad and will be back on January 5. You will then be
able to collect both your term paper and your exam.
Have a nice break and much success in all your future pursuits.

YEAH, I'm Still Pissed.

Propers must go out to Philip Rivers. The Sr. QB who started more games than any QB in NCAA history (51, every game for 4 years) played his last game in an NCSU uniform today. Rivers led the Wolfpack to blowout victory over Kansas in the Tangerine Bowl. Rivers finishes his college career as the number 2 all time NCAA career passing leader. He threw for 475 yards and 5 TDs and was named player of the game in his last game for the Wolfpack. He is also the ACC's career passing and total offense leader. Props must be given to Rivers who FSU coach Bobby Bowden called the best college football player in the nation earlier this year for his sustained excellence over the past four years, the Pack will miss him. Rivers was left out of Heisman consideration as the Pack's dreams of an ACC championship and a BCS game burned as they simply lost too many games with a defense that was second to last in the nation in passing yards allowed, and not that much better against the run. None the less, Rivers was named ACC player of the year, and should have a successful professional career. Rivers graduated from NCSU earlier this month.
Here's to Philip Rivers, a "real man of genius".
Here's to Philip Rivers, a "real man of genius".
You may have Roy, but we've got Skip, and he's got Roy too. He's also got Eric, Chris, Justin, Taron, Jamal, and a couple guys named Trent, Vytas, Kyle and Todd. Oh, and he's got the #6 basketball team in the nation; after a 119-114 triple overtime victory over the tarheels, IN the dean dome. DAMN the ACC is gonna be fun this year. And did Carolina just not know about Chris Paul, I mean he leads the nation in steals per game... apparently everyone is licking Luol Deng's balls so hardcore that they forgot that there is another freshman who will be making a HUGE impact this year, and I think CP3 might just be the ACC F.O.Y. (Represent West Forsyth HS) Justin Gray seems to really step up his game for the big contests. He played awesome saturday until he was disqualified due to fouls, and last year when he returned to the lineup against Duke after breaking his jaw in the game @ Duke, he played big, and hit a CLUTCH (and by clutch I also mean insane crazy) three pointer to help push the game into overtime (and then double OT) which the Deacs then won. Last year the media didn't give the Deacs much respect and they went out and won the ACC regular season. Again this year they have been overshadowed by Roy Williams and other ACC teams, but they remain undefeated and look as strong as ever, this being a team that lost only 2 players, and really only one contributor (granted, the ACC POY last year) from last year's team, but also gained some strong recruits. Hey, I'm not saying we are the best team in the nation, but just watch out for us.

This is the first post on my new blog, where I will be talking about who knows what. It could be celebratory, it could be complaining, it could be factual, could be objectionable, and it could just be plain crazy. Who knows. It is what it is.
